Alex Khalid became Chief Executive Officer of Aspen Capital in June 2012. Alex had a career spanning nearly 3 decades in commodity and commodity derivative markets. He established the Aspen Capital’s Palm Oil investment arm in 2014. Soon after holding the helm of CEO, Alex had bring Aspen Capital’s proprietary trading towards winning 2 prestigious awards of Best Oil Trading Fund Management Company in Asia Pacific & Best Managed Commodities Platform in Europe in 2015.
Prior to joining Aspen Capital, Alex worked for a private investment family office in London in the areas of structuring of asset-backed securities and of commodities origination. Alex comes from a family with long history of oil trading background.
John Phillips was appointed Chief Operating Officer in January 2016. His core focus is the management of the middle and back office support department for the trading division, direct responsibility for the Aspen’s P&L and responsibility for the entire supply chain operations of oil trading, including shipping, refinery, storage etc.
John joined Aspen in 2013 as an accounts associate in the Oil Trading department. He has held various roles within Aspen, covering accounts, middle office IT development and deals desk.
Charles Wilson was appointed Chief Technology Officer in April 2016. Charles has nearly a dozen years of professional programming experience. Charles has served as CTO of two technology companies in the Europe. He has been contracted for many others as an expert on web applications and have at least 8 years of experience in the trading industry as a algorithm expert.
Charles’s primary area of expertise is in the realisation of modern, intuitive, real-time trading algorithim and leading a technology team to make sure all Aspen Capital operations are its best.
John Hadid has over 23 years’ experience in providing market research and employs a combination of fundamental and technical analysis, specialising in utilising Elliot Wave and Fibonacci analysis in his specialised oil trading market. He has worked at leading research firms and hedge funds as a commodity analyst and, before joining Aspen Capital in 2019, was a senior commodity analyst at French research firm where he advised hedge funds and international investment banks with proven performing oil trading records.
With John’s wealth of trading experiences and proven track records, Aspen Capital believes John taking up the role of Chief Analyst will bring enormous insights to the Oil Trading department led by Mr Benjamin Young.
In April 2018 Benjamin Young was appointed Head of Oil Trading, overseeing Aspen proprietary trading, the global oil execution department and the derivatives department. Benjamin joined Aspen in 2014 as a Risk Manager and later 1 year as Co-Head of Crude Oil Trading.
Benjamin develops and manages strategic commercial relationships in the oil trading activities of the company and oversees the commercial activity for both Crude and Products for the Aspen Capital in Oman amongst other countries. Prior to joining Aspen Capital in 2014, Ben spent nearly 7 years with BP as a Crude Oil trader, gaining experience working in United States, Australia and Middle East.
Matthew Rogers was appointed Commodity Trading Analyst in June 2018. He joined Aspen in January 2014 in operations with a focus on Asia in Palm Oil and started trading the same regions and commodities two years later.
He then headed Crude Oil trading from 2016 to 2018. Matthew also takes an interest in all asset classes of the group working closely with the Oil trading division. Prior to joining Aspen in 2014, Matthew spent nearly 6 years in a private family trading office as a Crude Oil trader.
